Morning Warrior Smoothie

This week, I have some great smoothie recipes to share.  It always amazes me how much good-for-you stuff that you pack into a smoothie!

The True Food Kitchen cookbook describes the Week End Warrior smoothie as "an all-natural alternative to protein shake, the Weekend Warrior, part of our brunch menu, provides steady energy.  It is the perfect fuel for home renovation projects, projects, Ultimate Frisbee, or other day-off exertions."  That sounds like "breakfast of champions" material to me, so I'm calling this a Morning Warrior.

Bananas and peanut butter are an excellent combo, so I knew I would love this smoothie.  This smoothie kept me full past lunch time.  The True Food version uses apple juice and agave, but I threw in an apple, almond milk, and honey instead.  The smoothie is on the sweeter side but has a slight tang from the yogurt.  When I use frozen bananas, I don't add any ice because it makes the smoothie cold enough.  (If you do freeze bananas, I just freeze them unpeeled.)

This is a smoothie that will be great during any day of the week.

  1. My son is a big smoothie maker. He has been making the same recipe for a year. I'll pass your recipe onto him.
